Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. (CLASI), Housing Unit. It gives free legal help to tenants in subsidized housing (housing where the rent is based on income). That includes Section 8, public housing and tax credit housing. Its Housing Unit helps people with low incomes who face eviction or unsafe housing conditions, among other problems. Right to representation in evictions. Tenants whose income qualifies may be able to have free legal representation if they face eviction. To learn more, call 211.
Justice of the Peace Court eviction diversion program. The court runs a free program. It gives landlords and tenants a chance to talk about a deal before an eviction. You can start it any time after your landlord files the complaint. Once you are formally served with the complaint, you have 15 days to begin.
