Kansas Legal Services is a nonprofit legal aid group for low-income Kansans, including renters, in all 105 counties. Call 316-267-3975 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., to apply for legal help.
Kansas Legal Services offers free legal forms for Kansans who cannot afford a lawyer. The forms ask simple questions, then fill in the papers you need to file or answer a case in Kansas district court. Find them on the Kansas Legal Services website.

The Kansas Human Rights Commission takes housing discrimination complaints. Kansas law covers race, religion, color, sex, disability, ancestry, national origin, and familial status (having children living with you). It also covers retaliation (being treated unfairly for making a complaint). You must file within 1 year of the last time it happened. Call 785-296-3206 to start a complaint.
