Missouri's Department of Mental Health runs a rental assistance (money to help pay rent) program called RAP. RAP can pay up to 3 months of rent, including back rent. It only helps households already getting mental health or substance use services from a DMH provider, or enrolled in a DMH Housing Unit Program. RAP pays landlords, companies for utilities (water, electric, gas), or creditors directly, not the renter. RAP is closed to new requests through January 2027 because of a lack of funding.
