Late fees in 17 Tennessee counties: Anderson, Blount, Bradley, Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, Madison, Maury, Montgomery, Rutherford, Sevier, Shelby, Sullivan, Sumner, Washington, Williamson and Wilson. If your rent is more than 5 days late, your landlord can charge you extra. The 5 days start the day the rent is due.

Late fee limit in 17 Tennessee counties: Anderson, Blount, Bradley, Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, Madison, Maury, Montgomery, Rutherford, Sevier, Shelby, Sullivan, Sumner, Washington, Williamson and Wilson. The most the late fee can be is 10% of the rent you owe. Example: if you owe $800 in rent, the most is $80.

  5. The Legal Aid Society renter booklet lists 17 Tennessee counties. They are Anderson, Blount, Bradley, Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, Madison, Maury, Montgomery, Rutherford, Sevier, Shelby, Sullivan, Sumner, Washington, Williamson and Wilson. In those counties, for unpaid rent, your landlord must most of the time give you at least 14 days to move. Your landlord must tell you in writing. Your lease may say your landlord can go straight to court. Then your landlord does not have to give you a letter and extra time to move.

Most of the time, notice time depends on how often you pay rent. If you agreed to pay rent each week, you get 7 days notice (warning time before an eviction).
