Where Can I Get Rent Assistance or Eviction Help in Utah?

  • Utah Legal Services is a nonprofit that gives free help with civil legal problems, such as housing. It serves people who cannot afford a lawyer.

  • The Utah Courts Self-Help Center gives free legal help to people who do not have a lawyer. Its staff attorneys can answer questions about the law and the court process. They can also help you complete court forms. They cannot give you legal advice or represent you in court. Call 888-683-0009, Monday to Friday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The help line is very busy.

  • The Utah Courts website has a page for renters who got eviction papers. It explains what you can do. The page is only for home or apartment renters. Find it on utcourts.gov.

    211 Utah connects you to local help when you are in crisis or difficult circumstances. It is free, confidential, and available in multiple languages. From a mobile device, please dial 211 or 888-826-9790. The service is available Monday to Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The Utah Courts eviction page says Utah 2-1-1 has a list of programs that could help you with rent.

  • The Disability Law Center is Utah's protection and advocacy agency for people with disabilities. Its home page asks if you need help with issues such as housing. Its services are free of charge and available statewide. In some cases it may keep a small share of a money settlement. Apply for help online, or call 800-662-9080.
