  • West Virginia Housing Development Fund. The Fund runs the Project-Based Section 8 program. It gives rental assistance (help paying rent) to residents of certain apartment complexes in West Virginia. The help is tied to the complex. It does not follow you to another property. Call the Fund at 800-933-9843. The Fund also has a database of affordable rental properties.

  • West Virginia Human Rights Commission. You can call, write or visit its office to report housing discrimination (unfair treatment). The Commission says the complaint must be filed within 365 days of the most recent act. Call 304-558-2616.
