Security Deposit Not Returned in Wyoming: What Can I Do?

  1. After a rental agreement ends, a Wyoming landlord may use the deposit to pay unpaid rent. The landlord may also use it for damage beyond reasonable wear and tear (normal use over time). It may pay for cleaning the unit to its condition at the start of the rental agreement. It may pay other costs in a contract.

  5. A Wyoming landlord must deliver or mail the rest of your deposit and any prepaid rent, without interest. The landlord must send a written list of what was taken out of the deposit and why. The deadline is 30 days after the rental agreement ends, or 15 days after the landlord gets your new mailing address, whichever is later. If there is damage to the home, the deadline is extended by 30 days.
