These 3 organizations help renters anywhere in the United States. Each one is free or low cost. Start here if you do not know where else to go.

Legal Services Corporation (LSC) funds legal aid offices across the country. Legal aid gives you a lawyer for civil problems like eviction, even if you cannot afford to pay one. It is for people with low income. Go to lsc.gov and choose "Get legal help" to find the office nearest you.

211 connects you to help near you by phone. Dial 211 from any phone. Someone answers 24 hours a day, every day. The call is confidential, and you can stay anonymous. Ask about rent help, utility bill help, and shelter. More than 200 local 211 agencies cover the United States.
